Cotton was mainly grown for home use until the invention of the cotton gin in 1793. After that time cotton was grown as a cash crop. While it has lost some standing in agricultural importance in much of Louisiana, it is still very important in the northeastern corner of the state.

Hand painted on 13 mesh canvas, the design of this piece measures 16"x14". If you choose the "kit" option, we will include specially chosen colors of 3-ply Persian wool for stitching.
